Limited edition print from a copper etching with aquatint. Artist is working skipper Debbie Purser. One of 10 prints in Prussian blue ink on thick Fabiano art paper. Every print is unique as it comes off the press, depending on how the ink is applied to the plate.
The image was inspired by an old black and white photo I saw in the Turks Head Pub on St Agnes, Isles of Scilly. As a keen gig rower, it caught my eye. The narrow rowing boats know as Cornish pilot gigs were fast 'workhorses' that earnt a living by day from pilot services and were often used as rescue boats for wrecks on the many reefs around the Isles of Scilly. The lighthouse in the full sized image is probably the Bishop (before the helipad was added) or perhaps the more distant Wolf Rock lighthouse.
